The Hueznar Riverbank trail, connecting the Cazalla Constantina and Pedroso stations, is the most picturesque trail in the province of Seville. Its lush vegetation, gallery forests, the soothing sound of the river's flow, the melodies of the birds, and other details create a magical experience.
09:00 am Breakfast
Departure by train to the Cazalla Constantina station, where we begin the route. Prior to departure, you will be provided with provisions for hiking.
A 15 km downhill route, with medium to low difficulty.
During the hike, we'll have the opportunity to enjoy the gallery forest ecosystem, where wetlands predominate, with dense foliage and abundant bird species such as swifts, eagles, vultures, robins, kingfishers, and more, providing us with the extra calmness we often crave in the city. The sound of the river's flow and its cascades will accompany us throughout the journey.
Along the trail, we'll also encounter the remains of ancient mills, primarily used for grinding flour and wheat, harnessing the force of the Hueznar to power their heavy machinery.
Midway through the route, we'll come across the ruins of the Pedroso Factory. These historic facilities were built in the late 19th century by the Mining and Factories Company of El Pedroso, establishing the first Sevillian ironworks. Its purpose was to process the iron ore from the area, particularly from the Rosalino, Monteagudo, Juan Teniente, Navalázaro mines, and all those of Cerro del Hierro, located in San Nicolás del Puerto.
Upon reaching the recreational area of La Jaroso, private vehicles will transport us the last 5 km of the route to El Pedroso. However, those who wish can also complete this stretch on foot.
