DAY 2 FULL-DAY EXCURSION TO SEVILLE.

BETWEEN THE GIRALDA AND THE GUADALQUIVIR: A DAY OF ENCHANTMENT IN SEVILLE Breakfast

Today we depart with the accompanying guide for this fascinating full-day excursion to Seville. Upon arrival, we will embark on a tour to discover the most emblematic corners of this beautiful city and its main monuments.

You will experience Seville in a special way. Through this walk, you will discover places, stories, curiosities, and anecdotes of the city.

We will venture into María Luisa Park to discover the 20th-century Sevillian jewel, the Plaza de España, the most emblematic work of the Ibero-American Exhibition of 1929, designed by the Sevillian architect Aníbal González, one of the most spectacular spaces of regionalist architecture. From there, we will walk through Maria Luisa Park towards the Plaza de América.

Andalusia Incoming Services 12

The Plaza de América is a landscaped space within María Luisa Park. It is flanked by the Museum of Arts and Customs to the north and the Archaeological Museum to the south, which is currently closed for renovations.

We will then head to the Casino of the Exhibition, built to house the Seville Pavilion that was part of the Ibero-American Exhibition of 1929.

Next, we will continue our journey by passing through the Royal Tobacco Factory, the old headquarters of the tobacco company where the opera Carmen is set, now the University of Seville. In the 18th century, it was decided to build the Royal Tobacco Factory of Seville, a large stone building outside the city walls, with dimensions and styles encompassing Renaissance, medieval, and Baroque. It was the site of Europe's first tobacco factory and the most important industrial building in Spain at the time. It occupies a rectangle of 185 by 147 meters, surpassed in Spain only by El Escorial, which measures 207 by 162 meters.

Afterward, we'll have free time for lunch.

From there, we will continue on foot to the Plaza de la Contratación, where the General Archive of the Indies of Seville is located. It was created in 1785 by the desire of King Carlos III, with the aim of centralizing in one place the documentation related to the administration of the Spanish overseas territories.

We will then proceed to the Plaza del Triunfo to visit the Royal Alcázar of Seville, a fortified palace complex built in different historical stages and the residence of the Spanish Royal Family since its construction. The original palace was built in the Middle Ages. Some remnants of Islamic art are preserved, as well as a Mudéjar palace space and another in Gothic style from the post-Castilian conquest period.

After visiting the Alcázar, we will stroll through the Santa Cruz neighborhood, crossing the Jewish quarter and beautiful squares such as Doña Elvira or the Venerables Priests, and then continue to the Cathedral, a Gothic-style Catholic temple. Along the way, we will make a second stop for the tapas route.

We will head to the cathedral, one of the largest in the world in this style. Among many other treasures, it houses the tomb of Christopher Columbus.

We will then continue through the Plaza del Cabildo, which features frescoes, arcades, columns, and a section of Almohad wall from the 12th century, towards the Arenal neighborhood, the neighborhood of the bullfighters, next to the Guadalquivir River, where the bullring and the Torre del Oro are located. The Torre del Oro is a fortified tower located on the left bank of the Guadalquivir River, dating back to 1221. It closed off access to the Arenal via a section of wall that connected it to the Torre de la Plata, which was part of the city walls of Seville that defended the Alcázar. Ultimately, it was a defensive tower protecting the city from invasions via the Guadalquivir River.

We will continue on foot to visit the historic center of the city. Plaza Nueva to visit the exterior of the Seville City Hall, one of the most notable examples of Plateresque architecture in Andalusia. During the 15th century, due to the discovery of America and the growing importance and wealth of the city, it was decided to create a new headquarters for the City Council, larger and of higher quality, and to place the Seville City Hall in Plaza de San Francisco, which was a central and commercial location, moving it from its old headquarters in Plaza de la Virgen de los Reyes.

We will then head to Plaza del Salvador, an open pedestrian space located in the Alfalfa neighborhood, where the old major mosque of Seville was situated, and where the Church of El Salvador is now located.

We will continue to the Santa Justa station.

At 19:45, departure to El Pedroso.

DAY 3 FULL-DAY EXCURSION TO CÓRDOBA

ONCE UPON A TIME IN AL-ÁNDALUS: A DAY IN CÓRDOBA

Breakfast

Departure with a guide to embark on this fascinating full-day excursion to Córdoba, the capital of the Umayyad Caliphate. The Guadalquivir River (Oued el kebir or "big river," as the Arabs called it) bathes the caliphal city, refreshing the hot summer afternoons, splashing against the riverbank, and driving the mills that still stand on its shores, reminding us of times past.

Córdoba was the capital of the world and the pinnacle of splendor in the 10th century. Under the rule of the Umayyad dynasty, a powerful city was built here, adorned with palaces, mosques, madrasas, and libraries. As a cradle of great thinkers and a symbol of peaceful coexistence among the three cultures—Arab, Jewish, and Christian—Córdoba entered history with figures like Maimonides, Seneca, or Averroes.

We will meet the assistant at the reception and depart by train for Córdoba. During this train journey, we will observe how the Andalusian landscape changes between the different areas within each province, such as the Sierra Norte and the Vega del Guadalquivir.

Upon arrival in Córdoba, we will begin our walking tour. The assistant will provide us with a historical explanation of the place where we are before we proceed to discover this beautiful city. Córdoba was the capital of Al Andalus, the heart of the Umayyad Caliphate. It was a city equated in its time with Constantinople, due to its cultural richness, architecture, and grandeur.

We will enter the Medina through the Puerta de Almodóvar and stroll through the Jewish Quarter, where we can visit the synagogue, the only one preserved in Andalusia, dating back to 1314. We will continue strolling through the streets of the Jewish Quarter until we reach the Statue of Maimonides, one of the most important historical figures in Córdoba. Maimonides, the multifaceted scholar, whose life and work are still followed and greatly influential in our days.

Córdoba 31

We will then head towards the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos, one of the most representative monuments of Córdoba. It is a place with a lot of history, whose initial occupation of the space dates back to the Roman era. Over the centuries, this space served different purposes until the construction of the current building.

The Plaza del Triunfo owes its name to the monument located at one of its ends, the famous Triumph of San Rafael, a vertical monument crowned by the guardian archangel, protector of the city.

We will continue strolling through the monumental area of the city, getting to know the Roman Bridge, and later we will visit the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba, one of the most impressive Islamic sites in all of Spain. With 1200 years of history, it is undoubtedly the most important monument in the entire city.

Later, we will wander through the winding and narrow streets of the old quarter, making a special stop at the Calleja de las Flores. Then we will descend to the medieval quarter to discover spaces steeped in history: the Plaza del Potro, the Corredera...

Free time for lunch and to enjoy Cordoba's gastronomy, whose most famous dishes include the flamenquín and salmorejo, among other delights.

At 5:30 PM, we will return to El Pedroso by train.

At 8:00 PM, arrival at El Pedroso.

At 9:30 PM, dinner at a restaurant.

Accommodation at El Pedroso.

DAY 4 DISCOVER EL PEDROSO, A HAVEN OF TRANQUILITY

9:00 AM:Breakfast and check out. You can leave your luggage at the hotel to collect it just before your departure.

MIRADOR DE ALONSO

10:00 AM: Hiking along the Alonso Viewpoint route.

This trail leads us to spectacular views of nature and the Sierra Norte de Sevilla along a local road to the Alonso Viewpoint. Its name is attributed to Mr. Guillermo Alonso Rodríguez, whose wife and children, lovers of nature and sports, donated the land for public use and enjoyment after his death.

The trail is characterized by its short distance and the extraordinary beauty of its landscapes, which, together with its proximity to El Pedroso, make it an ideal option for a walk.

It's a 6 km hiking trail with an accumulated elevation gain of 130 meters. It's an interpreted and guided route.

The Church of Our Lady of Consolation awaits us in the square of the same name, next to the Town Hall. This Catholic temple, dating back to the 15th century and listed in the General Catalog of Andalusian Historical Heritage, is a true architectural and historical treasure that you must visit.

About 600 meters away, following Pi y Margall and Cristo streets, you will find the Hermitage of the Holy Christ of Mercy and Our Lady of Sorrows. This small rectangular building houses an interior full of religious art, another gem on your journey.

To conclude this enriching journey, we invite you to continue along Cristo and Zabalza Tajonar streets to the Casa Granja de la Cartuja. This historic building played a prominent role in the history of the Carthusian monks in Cazalla de la Sierra, where they trained novices in their tasks. A place of great historical importance.

Subsequently, we will stop for a guided tour of the Museum of Letters of El Pedroso, where, in addition to being able to rewrite Don Quixote and learn about the history of writing, you will also learn about the history of El Pedroso and the importance of the mines in this area in the 19th century. This is the only museum in the world that houses a complete collection of all existing Premio Planeta awards.
